23 May 2005 :: HOO HA! Part Chimp and Todd on the beard!
   - Kenscanna, 23 May 2005

Thats fucking right baby! Jazzbeard is releasing a limited Edition split 7" single featuring two of the UK's most heavyweight bands Part Chimp (Rock Action Records) and TODD (Southern Records). Its going to be pressed up on brown "sludgey" vinyl with hand pressed covers. Both bands are providing there own artwork and we are hoping a good friend of both bands will be providing nice live photo's!

Caretakers "Sign of Four" EP is going out to the press hounds of the UK and Europe this week so keep an eye out for reviews all over the show for that! Should be in the shops sometime after the reviews, and you can pick it up from the band when they play. Make sure you keep an eye out for escanna's Benny Llewellyn and Paul Phillips in their new band Meet me in St Louis, they are still looking for a bass player so if you think you are up to the task contact them through their website at www.meetmeinstlouis.co.uk.

22 March 2005 :: WHAT THE HELL?? The Beard on the BBC??
   - Kenscanna, 16 Mar 2005

"Jazzbeard Records, which could well be the best ever title for a record label..." - Hugh Stepens, BBC Radio One's "One Music" show. Check it out here.

The Robot Vs. have split up into 2 new bands, so we potentially have 2 more bands to add to our roster later in the year...much love to those guys for they rocked!

Caretaker's new EP "The Sign of Four" is coming our through the beard as BRD#02, the comp is stuck in legal hell right now BUT will still be coming out real soon, Sign of Four will hopefully be in the shops around May/June and hopefully will be released in conjunction with Function again.

escanna were played on Radio 1 last night (15/03/05), the track "Quiet as a House" from the Jazzbeard released BRD#01 which also appeared on the recently released (and hence the play) Function Records sampler, which hit the airwaves at around 12:15, this is the third track from the split to be played on the station and we thank Hugh Stephens for supporting both Function/Jazzbeard and escanna!

BRD#03 or 04 (depends on the comp) will be a split 7" vinyl featuring 2 VERY VERY VERY cool bands, its not been wrapped up properly but its really exciting stuff so keep your eyes peeled for news on this.

Get your ass down to the Function site and download the sampler if your too lazy to pick one up, it has some very niice tracks including our old pals Lebatol and rockers like Push to Fire (feat ex escanna drummer Paul), For Trucks and Menendez!

27 July 2004 :: Revenge of the Beard - Jazzbeard is back!!!
   - Kenscanna, 27 July 2004

Party Time!!!

That's right party people! Jazzbeard Records, Spill Magazine (www.spillonline.com) and The Church of The Subgenius (www.subgenius.com) are hosting a launch Party of maximum rock action!

Friday the 22nd of Roctober - Hey Colossus/Windom Earle + 2 more tbc + Preachers from The Church of the Subgenius will be there to save your slack!

Saturday the 23rd of Rolltober - The Robot vs./Ships a Goin' Down + 2 more tbc will be rocking you into the night!

Both nights will take place from 07:30pm - 12:00am @ The Star, Quarry Street, Guildford. Keep your eyes on the Jazzbeard Forum for updates/new bands on the bill!

Party People!!!

Escanna are on a temporary hiatus so that the members can flex their musical muscles in other guises, Kenny and Benny W are rocking under the suspicious and sinister guise of Windom Earle. Benny L and Pauly P are also available in all colours as the band Schumacher levy (not a Grand prix car cleaning cloth but a comet I'm told!).

Windom Earle are in talks with London based Ships a Goin' Down to release a split 7" single, each playing songs named after the consecutive bands! This is all rather vague at the moment but is planned to be co-released by their label and the mighty beard!

All is quiet in camp Demons at the moment, though I hear a whole truck load of releases are about to hit the shops/distro's/£1 bins! - I have their track (a cover of escanna's "Checkmate") for the Jazzbeard Comp CD...and it rocks hard and loud!

Keep your eye on www.functionrecords.com for more news on Jazzbeard Happenings!

  27 July 2004 :: Little Updates
   - Kenscanna, 30 June 2004

Comp
So we nearly have all the tracks now! Kayo Dot have contributed a radio session track from A New York radio station and it sounds amazing! Hey Collosus and Econoline got their tracks over and they are great to.

Escanna
Have a new drummer called Nick Bowers, he is taking over from Paul Phillips who's shoes are hard to fill but we think Nick is the man for the job! Nick from Disoma is going to be contributing his throaty and electronic skills to the new escanna stuff which is amazing so keep your eyes on that...escanna are playing on Ken's birthday @ the Cave in Winchester (24th July)

Demons
Demons are still waiting to release their stuff on Beware the Preist Records, they have also provided a track for the Jazzbeard Comp in the shape of a cover of "Checkmate" by escanna with some fruity new lyric!

  13 April 2004 :: Finally! An Update!
   - Kenscanna, 13 April 2004

FINALLY!! A new release is scheduled for late June. It is an as yet unnamed Compilation CD. We have some AMAZING talent on this plastic masterpiece including Secret Chiefs 3, The Ghost, Sleepytime Gorilla Museum and Estradasphere, and of course new tracks from Jazzbeard's own escanna and Your Smiling Now but we'll all turn into Demons (apparently covering the escanna song "Checkmate"), and a couple of AMAZING bands still to confirm!

escanna have a new album in the pipeline. It's still in the writing process at the moment but it's a 10 song concept album going under the title of "Short Stories - del sexo y el asesinato". This should hopefully be out in late summer! The band are in the currently recruiting a new drummer and appearing on extreme sports shows!?!

We are also pleased to announce that at some point this year we will be releasing the debut album from the mighty [band formerly known as] Strobe 45. Once they have a new bass player they will commit to a date and you'll be the first to know!

The last record did pretty well for a debut label offering, both bands were played by the mighty John Peel on BBC radio 1, we got plenty of national press and fanzine write ups...a big thanks must go to the mighty Function Records who handle Jazzbeard's PR and helped it all happen!

Archived News :: Escanna / Demons Split-CD Announced!
   - Johnny Jazzbeard, 29 April 2003

At last, we've done something.  We're one step closer to having a CD out!  If you know anywhere that can press up T-Shirts, Records, CDs and general helpy things please e-mail.  Cheers!

Due the amazing demand for badly played noisy guitar rock we have taken it upon ourselves to release a split CD.  It features the crazy piratecore of "You're Smiling Now But We'll All Turn Into Demons" (not from Farnborough) and the twisted meercat of guitar that is the Eakins fronted "Escanna" (more from Guildford really).  Who knows what kind of musical creatures will follow in their footsteps into the unknown and fruity world of Jazzbeard Records.  Tracklisting to follow, so keep 'em peeled you cheeky little rock scamps.
